37 Fight for The Bond

Amelia POV

I feel my heart break to hear those words leave her lips. How could she even think about rejecting
Michael? “Let’s talk before you make any rash decisions.” Lily and Iris take a seat on the couch and
Pheobe sits in a chair by my bed. “Pheobe, do you mind if I speak freely?” “Of course you can, Luna”
she says and I smile. Even though I’m just meeting her, I can see she is a beautiful sweet girl. I think I
already know why she is so determined that rejection is her only choice but I need to hear it from her.
“Pheobe, why would you ever think about rejecting your goddess-given mate?” I see her furrow her
brows thinking about how to answer my question. “Pheobe, you don’t need to sugar coat anything.”
“Just tell us what you’re thinking,” She takes a deep breath. “There is more than one reason but the
main one is that I’m not worthy of a fated mate.” “What would ever make you think you’re not worthy of
having the mate the goddess chose for you?”

“For starters, I was born a black magic witch and he is a wolf.” She looks at Lily before she continues.
Lily puts her hands up in surrender. “Secondly, he deserves to have a mate that is strong.” Lily stands
up and walks over to stand in front of her. “Now I stayed quiet about the whole black magic witch thing,
but I will not stand for you saying you’re not strong” Lily says. Pheobe stands up. “He has been
torturing her for months and I finally just got her out of there” she says, pointing at Iris. “I wasn’t strong
enough to get her out of that place the minute it started.” Lily’s face falls and my heart breaks that they
are all being tortured by the actions of this ba**ard. I take Pheobe’s hand in mine, encouraging her to
sit on the edge of my bed. She does what I ask and I look into her eyes. She looks broken, but that
doesn’t mean she has to stay that way. “Pheobe, you cannot take on the actions of someone else.” “I
was born a wolf?” “Do you hold that against me?” “Of course not, but your kind isn’t exactly known for
being evil.” I laugh because I can’t stop myself and she looks at me like I have ten heads. I think about
the ba**ard that will die very soon.



Pheobe POV

“Evil is not based on kind, I promise you that.” “I have known some very evil wolves and some
wonderful witches” she says, looking at Iris and Lily. “You determine the kind of person you want to be.”
“It is not determined by what type of supernatural you are.” I know she’s right but I’m sure that Michael
would prefer to be mated to a wolf. I can’t tell them the biggest reason is Lucas. I know what Lucas will
do if he finds out that Michael is my mate. My mother won’t allow him to kill me, but killing Michael will
be worse than death for me. I have to protect him from the monster that Lucas is. Lily bends down in
front of me. “I understand your scared and that you have doubts, but I promise you that you will regret
rejecting your mate for the rest of your life.” She is absolutely right about that but I have to live with that
regret to protect Michael. “You’re right Lily, I will.” “I think I need to take a walk and think about things.”
“I won’t go far and I’ll be back shortly.”

Lily stands up “I’ll come with you since you’re not familiar with the pack lands.” “No” I say harsher than I
mean to. “I’m sorry I didn’t mean it the way it sounded.” “I just need to be alone to think, I won’t go far.”
Iris comes over and hugs me before I leave the room. As I walk down the hallway, I pray that Michael
won’t be waiting in the lobby. I breathe a sigh of relief the minute I walk through the doors and the lobby
is empty. I walk out the front door and the night air is crisp. It feels good against my skin. I walk toward
a path that passes through the trees. As I walk I hate myself even more for leaving this way, but I have
to protect them like I should have done the minute he started torturing Iris. Once I’m deep in the trees I
mask my scent so I won’t be scented by any patrol guards.

I’m just about to teleport when I hear that same voice whisper again. “Don’t do this Pheobe.” “Who are
you and why are you helping me?” “That’s not important right now, but you staying safe is important.”
“Your brother has to be stopped and you leaving will make that impossible.” I’m just about to ask why
when I hear a noise and turn to see a wolf stalking toward me. The voice is gone and I start to back up.
“Please don’t hurt me, I’m no threat to you and the pack.” “The Alpha and Luna know I’m here, you can
ask them.” I back up until I bump into a tree. The wolf keeps stalking forward. I put my hand up to stop



him but it doesn’t work. What the hell? Why isn’t my magic working? As soon as the wolf is close
enough that I can feel his breath on my face he lays down in front of me. As soon as I look into his
eyes, I know I’m in no danger. “Michael”, I whisper. He shifts standing in front of me completely naked. I
look up to avoid looking at his naked body. He walks to a tree and I can’t help myself but to check his
backside out. Oh, my goddess, his body is gorgeous. I can feel the heat rising in my body and I’m sure
my face is flushed. I pray he doesn’t notice.

Michael POV

As soon as we left the room, Lincoln suggested we go out on a run. I’m glad because right now I need
something to take my mind off the fact that my mate hasn’t acknowledged my existence yet. Jaxon is
on edge and he wants me to just act like a caveman and claim our mate. As we run, I try to focus on
the run as we weave in and out of the trees. As we reach the clearing, Talon slows down and stops
completely. They shift and I do the same. “What’s wrong Lincoln?” “The girls are concerned that
Pheobe is trying to go back to the coven.” “She left the room saying she needed to be along to think
and Lily doesn’t believe that’s true.” Jaxon comes to the surface. “I told you to throw her over your
shoulder and claim her.” “Now she is probably gone.” “Calm down Jaxon, we will find her.” Then I think
about her teleporting and I feel shattered. “Michael, Lily blocked her magic to protect her from herself.”
“I could kiss that woman right now but Neal would probably kill me.” He laughs “that he would.” “Why
are you still here, go get your mate.” I fist bump him before we shift and take off toward the woods.

I immediately catch her scent and stay at a safe distance to see what she does. “Just go to her now.”
“Jaxon, I will not let her leave, but I can’t just force what I want.” “That will just push her away.” He
quiets because he knows I’m right. I notice she has stopped and it almost looks like she is talking to
someone. That’s when I notice her scent is gone. She is hiding her scent. We start to move closer and
step on a branch. Her head whips in our direction. The minute she sees me I can see fear flash across
her face. She hasn’t seen Jaxon yet and she needs to see his eyes to know who he is. I watch as she
backs up until she is against a tree. I want to shift and make her mine right here, but I keep us both



under control. She raises her hand and I see the moment when she realizes her magic won’t work. We
are right in front of her when Jaxon lays down at her feet. He looks into her eyes and she gasps. When
she says my name, it goes right through us. I cannot let this woman leave me. I shift and grab shorts
from behind the tree. When I turn back, she is definitely blushing. I try not to acknowledge that I
noticed. I want her to be comfortable so we can actually talk.

Pheobe POV

Once Michael, comes to stand in front of me, I look everywhere but his face. I feel like a child that was
caught taking a cookie. “Pheobe, we need to talk.” “Michael” I start to say but he stops me. “Pheobe,
we need to talk about why you haven’t accepted me yet.” I finally look into his eyes and that was a
mistake. I can see the love he has for me in his eyes. “Michael, we can’t for many reasons.” “Bullsh*t”
he says with anger in his voice. “There is no reason on the goddess given earth that we can’t be
together.” “I’m not a wolf.” He laughs “does it bother you that I’m a wolf Pheobe?” “Of course not, but
you” he gives me a look and I stop. “I want you so what else do you have.” He is starting to piss me off
by dismissing my points so easily. “I am not a light witch like Lily.” “I was born a black magic witch
which means that my coven is not pure.” “What your coven is has no bearing on the person you are.” “I
know you are good person whether your a black magic witch or a light witch.” I feel warmth in my chest
at his words.

“Now give me the real reason Pheobe.” “You’re starting to piss me off Michael.” “Don’t dismiss what I’m
saying like it doesn’t matter.” He steps into my space. “I’m not dismissing your feelings, love, I just need
you to understand that I love you not what you are or where you come from.” “I wouldn’t care if you
were an alien, you are mine.” He is killing me with his words. I can feel the tears in my eyes. He
reaches up wiping the tear away. “Now please, tell me what would make you leave me.” “I cannot put
your life in danger.” “It would kill me if anything happened to you because of me.” He smiles and pulls
me into his arms. He buries his nose in the crook of my neck and I don’t fight him this time. I melt into
him, loving how it feels to be in his arms.



After a few minutes, he pulls back and goddess he is the sexist man I have ever seen. “Pheobe what is
your full name?” “Trust him” I hear in my mind again. “My name is Pheobe Brin Williams.” “I, Michael
Forest Masters, accept you, Pheobe Brin Williams as my mate.” I feel the bond start to form the minute
the words leave his mouth. Am I really going to do this? “Pheobe, I would rather have five minutes of
happiness and love with you than a lifetime of misery without you.” This damn man, I will kill Lucas
before I will let him take him from me. “I, Pheobe Brin Williams, accept you, Michael Forest Masters as
my beloved and mate.” As soon as th words leave my mouth he slams his lips down on mine. I give
into the kiss and I pray that I am strong enough to stop him.
