and then replied, “I just want a serious, committed relationship now.”

Janet nodded with an approving smile. Then she turned to Laney, who was busy eating.

“I can help you find a place. Staying in a hotel is not very convenient after all,” Garrett looked at her and

waited for her.

“Why are you still here? I’m going to take a cab back to the hotel.” Laney purposely visited the
washroom earlier so that she could leave alone.

“I’ll give you a ride,” Garrett offered. They took the cable car down the mountain to the parking lot, and
Garrett opened the door of the back seat for her.

Pretending not to see it, Laney hailed a cab and left.



Looking at the car driving away, Garrett was helpless. He adjusted his glasses and got into his car.

As soon as he settled in the backseat, he received a phone call.

“Hello, Mr. Harding. I heard that you are in Barnes? Why didn’t you call me?” A female voice could be
