do you want to put on some ointment to reduce the swelling? Or an ice pack?”

Silence ensued in the lab. None of them said a word as the air grew tense.

An hour later, the sky had turned completely dark.

Joshua finally received the results and made his way back to the ward with a serious expression.

Cedrick had been waiting beside Gwendolyn the entire time. He quickly got to his feet and inquired,
“So?”

Joshua held the lab report tightly and looked at Cedrick. “Cedrick, there is good news and bad news.
Which one do you want to hear first?”

Tamping down his impatience, he replied, “Tell me the good news first.”

The blood test results show that there is no S404 RNA virus in Gwendolyn’s body. She’ll be fine, so
don’t worry.”

Cedrick heaved a sigh of relief. “What about the bad news?”



Joshua’s voice grew solemn as he delivered the news. “According to various indicators and her

Cedrick whirled around to look at Gwendolyn, who was still unconscious in bed. He racked his brain to

Cedrick fell into deep thought and said nothing.

Joshua added. “You should avoid rendering her unconscious like you did today. The blow to the back of

medication specifically tailored to her needs. If we’re fortunate, she may recover completely within six
months.”

Cedrick promptly relaxed when he learned that Gwendolyn could recover.

“Understood. Please develop the treatment plan as soon as possible. If Gwendolyn has another
outburst, I’ll discreetly bring her here and ensure she receives the necessary treatment.”

Joshua caught the main point in his words. “Discreetly? Are you planning to keep Gwendolyn unaware
of her condition and secretly treat her?”

Cedrick lowered his gaze and sighed. “Gwenny is a stubborn person. I know her well. If she becomes
aware of her condition, she might go to great lengths to shield her loved ones from any potential harm.
For now, it might be best to keep it from her. We’ll assess the situation as it unfolds and make decisions
accordingly.”

Joshua couldn’t refute his words.

He got some medication for Gwendolyn to calm her frayed nerves and enhance her immune system.

It took around two hours and a half to finish the IV drip. Cedrick remained beside her, using an ice pack
to decrease the swelling on his cheek.

They remained at the lab until late at night.

When everything was done, Cedrick brought a still-unconscious Gwendolyn back to Harrick Villa

arms, he drifted into a deep slumber.



Gwendolyn slept until noon the following day.

She was roused by a call from her assistant.

“Ms. Harris, the person in charge of the Dovil Group’s project will be arriving in the afternoon to sign the
contract. It’s nearly one o’clock now. Are you planning to come to work today?”

you should get more rest. I can help you delay the signing of the contract with Dovil Group,” Cedrick
told her.

“No, the signing has already been postponed for quite some time, and I’m concerned that further
delays might lead to unforeseen complications. I’m almost fully recovered now, so it’s better to address
it promptly.”



Cedrick pulled her in for a hug, not showing any signs of releasing her. “But Gwenny, you have a
headache.”

Weakly, she opened her eyes. “I probably just need some time to get used to the climate here after
coming back from abroad. Go get me some aspirin. I’ll feel better after taking one.”

“It’s easy to get dependent on aspirin. Let me massage your head to relieve your symptoms.”

Slowly, Cedrick’s slender fingers applied gentle pressure to Gwendolyn’s temples, massaging her tense
scalp in an effort to alleviate her headache.
