Chapter 281

“One in the morning. I came here to take a shower because I was afraid I would wake you up. There
are surveillance cameras in the aisle. I can ask Seth to pull up the footage.”

Brandon thought that Savanna would immediately say there was no need.

However, Savanna did not. She stared at him as if waiting for him to ask Seth to obtain the surveillance
footage.

Brandon called Seth, and Seth sent the surveillance video to him right away.

In the dimly lit corridor, Brandon walked steadily without a hint of drunkenness. He entered the guest
room. About ten minutes later, he came out of the guest room wearing his pajamas. He walked to the
master bedroom and pushed

the door open.

Savanna didn’t say anything. She lowered her head, threw the clothes in her hands into the basin,
poured the laundry detergent in, rubbed the clothes, and then washed them with water..

Brandon had already handed over the hangers. Savanna took them over, hung the clothes, turned
around, and bumped into Brandon’s chest.

Her nose hurt.

Savanna rubbed her nose and looked up. Her eyes met Brandon’s deep, meaningful eyes. She saw
the unease between his eyebrows. She curled her lips, walked past him, and walked out of the guest
room.



Brandon followed her out of the room nervously.

Savanna returned to the living room, and Brandon also came in.

Savanna turned around and glared at him. “Why are you following me?”

Brandon said, “Savanna, there wasn’t any woman last night. Neither Bob nor Ben asked for one. We
hadn’t seen each other for a long time, and it was just us, a few men chatting. You have to believe me.”

Clearly, Brandon did not want any barriers between Savanna and him. He kept explaining.

Savanna frowned, and her eyes flashed. “I want to believe you as well. But the perfume on your clothes
is too strong.

“You claimed it was just men drinking and talking. Are Bob and Ben in the habit of wearing perfume?”
Brandon was stunned by her question.

Brandon thought about it and suddenly remembered that when he arrived last night, there were two
beauties beside Bob and Ben. After he sat down, Ben told the two women to leave.

Ben and the woman sat in the corner. If the woman wanted to leave, she had to walk past Brandon.
Brandon got up and made way for her. Maybe he got the perfume on his clothes when the woman left,
or maybe he got it from Ben. Anyway…

Brandon suddenly felt that he couldn’t explain himself.

He swallowed his saliva and said, “Savanna, it doesn’t matter how much I say if you don’t believe me.
We have been through so much. I was even willing to leave everything behind and go back to New
York with you. Doesn’t that tell you how much I love you?”



Brandon was speaking from the bottom of his heart. Savanna knew. But she couldn’t make peace with
the smell of the perfume.

She knew that she should believe in Brandon, but a voice in her mind kept reminding her, “Savanna,
have you forgotten how he treated you before?

“In the past, he always left you alone. Every time he went out, he always came back with perfume on
his clothes,

The perfume this time was different. Savanna had never smelt it before.

“I don’t want to see you. Go out and let me be alone for a while.”

Brandon was furious at Savanna’s words. He did not expect her to be so petty. He did not do anything
and was misunderstood by her like this. Brandon was full of grievances.

He slammed the door shut and left.

Savanna looked at the shaking door and slowly closed her eyes. She gradually calmed down.

Brandon went downstairs and saw Seth and Lizeth chatting. He said impatiently, “Get a room.”



They were nothing but an eyesore.

Seeing how furious Brandon was, Seth did not dare to say anything. He quickly left.

Lizeth went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast for everyone.

Brandon took a walk in the garden. He took a few steps, and he was still pissed off. Everything was so
revolting. He knew. He had a mood swing because of Savanna’s distrust of him.

Brandon stood under a tree and lit a cigarette. When the cigarette was burnt out, he had already
calmed down. He called Rex and said, “Have you returned to New York?”

On the other end of the line, it seemed that Rex was busy. He was flipping through pages. “With all of
you gone, there’s no point in me staying in Philadelphia. My plane took off at six in the morning. I have
just landed. What’s wrong?”

Rex figured that since Brandon was a busy man, Brandon must have something to talk to him about.
Brandon wouldn’t call him for no reason.

Brandon briefed Rex on what happened last night and told him about Savanna’s suspicion. On the
other end of the line, Rex paused for a few seconds before answering, “I think it was the drug. It will
slowly seep into one’s body and control one’s nerve center. To put it bluntly, it can control one’s
emotions. Its effects on unhappily married women are particularly obvious,”

Brandon was not convinced. “Is Savanna one of those unhappily married women?”

Rex said, “Why would she be happy with the way you treated her? I mean in the past, not now.”

Brandon did not say a word when the past was mentioned.



He had to admit that he was kind of an asshole in the past, trash, but at that time, he hadn’t identified
the voice in his heart. He didn’t know that he had feelings for Savanna.

mind over and over again. That is why she does not trust you.”

Brandon suddenly realized that he was going to suffer from now on.

He pondered for a moment and asked, “Is there any medicine for that?”

Rex thought about it and replied, “I can prescribe you something. Ask Seth to come to the hospital to
get it.”

“Alright.”

Brandon hung up the phone and immediately asked Seth to go to the hospital to get the medicine from
Rex.

Soon, Seth brought the medicine back. Brandon ground the medicine into powder, poured it into a
glass, and walked upstairs with the glass.

“Savanna, have some water.”

Savanna looked at the glass that Brandon handed over. “I’m not thirsty.”

Why did he suddenly give her water out of the blue?

Seeing that Savanna was confused, Brandon told her what Rex had said to him. Savanna lowered her
eyes and pondered. Rex was indeed a great doctor. She did suffer from the symptoms of recalling the
past for no reason, and her emotions were becoming so intense that she could not control herself.



She was trying her best to restrain herself. However, the thing between Brandon and Winnie kept
tormenting and pestering her, making her so painful.

Savanna knew that Brandon would not harm her, so she took the glass and drank the water.

Savanna lay on the bed and closed her eyes to rest. Brandon knew that she was ill, so he did not
disturb her. He tucked her in.

He sat on the edge of the bed, staring at Savanna’s sleeping face. Under the light, her face took on an
unhealthy whitish hue.

He felt heartbroken. Brandon put her fair hand exposed in the air under the quilt and tucked her in
again. Then he got up and looked at her, his eyes full of love.

Brandon turned off the lights and walked out of the room. When he went downstairs, Lizeth asked him
to eat. He did not respond and walked out of the Rose Villas directly.

Brandon drove to the hospital. When he entered Rex’s office, Rex was having a patient. Rex motioned
for him to wait. After a while, Rex was done with the patient. He turned his chair and faced Brandon.
“What now?”

Brandon said, “I want to know why Savanna is like this.”

Rex said, “Didn’t tell you already?”

Seeing Brandon raise an eyebrow, Rex patiently explained, “Your grandmother had someone develop
the medicine to deal with Linda, She hated Linda and your grandfather. For her, alienating them was
the best revenge. What would happen to Linda if she took the medicine?”

Brandon lowered his eyes and suddenly spat out, “Linda would be suspicious of my grandfather, and
with things going on like this, he would be tired after a long time. The gap between the two of them
