Chapter 63

Don‘t Be With That Woman

At noon, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence stayed at the manor for lunch. Wendy also found an excuse to stay.

Wendy behaved very considerately at the dining table. She served soup and vegetables to the elders
from time to time. She had not forgotten to peel a shrimp for Estie. She herself took no more than a few
bites.

“I remember that you like to eat shrimp, Estie, so I peeled them specially for you.” Wendy pushed the
peeled shrimp in front of Estie.

Estie just looked up before lowering her head back down to eat from her own plate as if she had not
seen it. Wendy‘s hand was still on the plate, and the smile on her face was a little stiff. Estie did not
touch the plate of shrimp after a long time. Melody asked strangely, “Estie, why aren‘t you eating the
shrimp that Miss Wendy specially peeled for you? You should thank her.”

Estie ignored her and buried her head into her meal. Seeing this, Melody frowned slightly, and her tone
became harsh. “Estie, your current behavior is very rude.”

Estie paused and looked up, her eyes filled with stubbornness.

She just did not want to eat the things the bad lady gave her! Wendy saw Melody speaking up for her
and hurriedly put on a thoughtful and sensible appearance.

“Aunt Melody, don‘t be angry. Estie may be full, and that‘s why she‘s not eating it. Moreover, Estie is
already in an unstable mood. You‘ll scare her like this,” she comforted the old lady. Melody‘s tone was
satisfied.

“You‘re still the most sensible one. I‘m relieved that you‘ll be around to take care of Estie in the future.”



Wendy peeked at Byron carefully. The smile on her face was a little reluctant.

Melody also looked at her son, and there was a trace of accusation in her gaze.

Faced with both their gazes, Byron said to Wendy, “Estie doesn‘t eat what outsiders give her. You don‘t
have to worry about it.”

Hearing this, a look of hurt flashed past Wendy‘s face. She took back the plate of shrimp. Melody had
intended to reconcile the relationship between these two. Seeing Wendy hurt, she turned to teach her
son a lesson.

“They‘re all flaws born from you spoiling her.” Byron was noncommittal.

“Children should have these kinds of awareness for safety. At least they won‘t simply eat things given
to them by strangers when they go out.” Melody wanted to say something more, but the patriarch of the
Lawrence family, Benedict, who was at the side, coughed.

“Byron is right. Estelle has been running around these two days. We can‘t afford her eating something
she shouldn‘t have.”

At that, Melody gave up. Byron had work to deal with after lunch and asked the others what their plans
were. Melody looked at her granddaughter lovingly. “I haven‘t brought Estie to go buy clothes for a long
time. Estie, I‘ll bring you to buy a nice little dress!”

Although she was dissatisfied with her son‘s marriage matters, Melody really liked her granddaughter.
Thinking about how her son was just a man at the end of the day, he would have inevitably neglected
this aspect. Every time she saw Estie, she would take her out to buy a bunch of things that little girls
liked.



Estie was about to agree to it when she saw Wendy walking over. “Aunt Melody, I‘ll go with you. I‘d like
to learn what Estie likes as well.”

“Alright.” Melody agreed with a smile. With that, she reached her hand out to hold Estie‘s hand but was
met with emptiness. Estie shook her head at her grandma and wrote in the small notebook.

[I don‘t want to go out today. I want to practice calligraphy at home.]

Melody did not force her either. Benedict held his granddaughter‘s hand and sat her down on the sofa.

“Come, let me teach you. Tell me what words would you like to learn today.” Estie thought of the names
she saw on the brothers‘ notebooks when she was in kindergarten. She scribbled ‘Nox‘ and ‘Lucian‘ on
the notebook.

Benedict wondered aloud, “Why do you suddenly want to practice these two words?” These two words
were not commonly used words, after all. For a moment, he could not figure out any special
significance.

Estie shook her head. She pulled her grandpa‘s sleeve and motioned for him to teach her.
