It was not until the warm winter sun shone in from the balcony that Adina and Duke woke up lazily.

After Adina and Duke got ready, they went downstairs . The children had already gone to preschool. Fo

She carried a small leather bag and walked into the office building in her high heels. Ever since she ca
me back from abroad, she had not been to the company much. She needed to slowly take care of the

driven assistant. She would handle all the trivial matters, so the remaining work was the big projects th
at were more important and involved a higher amount of funds.
Adina flipped through the project documents that had piled up. Most of them were existing
problems left from Daugherty Corporation, so she did not blame Serene for not handling them separate
ly. She drank some coffee as she worked, and time passed by silently.
“Ms. Daugherty, a man is here to see you. His family name is Gardner, and he says he‘s your cousin–
in–law.”
Serene knocked on the office door, walked in, and reported.
Adina was a little stunned. It took her a while to recall who this cousin–in–law was.
When she was about 17, she attended Sophia‘s wedding, and that was
the only time that she had met this cousin in–law.
