Chapter 976 Samuel Must Have Done It on Purpose

When Zayn turned around, he saw Nicole looking at him with interest. He felt a little embarrassed.

He coughed, "Well, I'm here to check on you. How are you feeling?"

Zayn couldn't help but frown when he saw Nicole lying in bed.

"Did that bastard Parker do all this to you?"

"Parker?"

Nicole heard an unfamiliar name and puzzled.

"Who is Parker?"

Zayn was surprised, not knowing what was going on.

Samuel wouldn't tell him anything. He couldn't find anything after poking around for a long time. He
only knew that Nicole was injured.

As for how badly she was injured, Samuel had blocked the news. He had tried to bribe the doctor with
money but failed.

Looking at Nicole's puzzled expression, Zayn was a little uncertain.

"Didn't Parker kidnap you?"

Nicole did not like Zayn much. But the unfamiliar name made Nicole feel that there might be something
she did not know about.

"Tell me. What exactly is going on?"

Nicole struggled to get up, and it made her wound hurt. She sweated in pain.



"Let me help you."

Zayn quickly stepped forward and gently supported Nicole.

There was a faint scent of perfume on his body. Unlike Samuel's refreshing scent, it was a little sweet,

"They actually used a whip on you?"

reason to cut off your hand. You're a man and I'm a woman, don't you realize that?"

These words caused Zayn's hand to stop in the air, and he looked awkward.

"Sorry. I just want to check your wounds."

"Are you a doctor?"

Nicole mockingly asked.

Zayn was more embarrassed.

"No."

"Are you my husband?"



Zayn didn't know how to reply.

"Then what the fuck do you want to check?"

Nicole was irritated and angry.

Zayn was in a daze.

He had always thought that Nicole was knowledgeable, noble, and elegant. He never expected that
Nicole could swear.

Nicole didn't care what expression he was on his face or what he was thinking. She pulled up her collar
and sat up with great difficulty. Then, she coldly looked at Zayn and said, "Can you tell me who Parker
is now? What are you doing here? Do you have something to do with me being kidnapped?"

"Of course not!"

Zayn was anxious.

"I will never hurt you!"

When he stressed it like that, it surprised Nicole.

"Then why are you here to check on me? We're not that close, are we?"

Zayn didn't know how to answer this question.

She did not know how they were actually connected, and Samuel did not want Nicole to know that.
Zayn had wanted to tell Nicole before, but after this incident, he changed his mind.

Perhaps it was best for Nicole to maintain her current state without knowing anything.



Zayn dropped that idea and said in a low voice, "Can't I come to visit a friend?"

"You and I are not friends."

Nicole was cold to him.

Zayn could not blame her. He could only smile bitterly in his heart.

"Fine. I consider you as my friend, alright? I just want to know how you're doing."

"And then?"

Once again, Zayn didn't know how to answer her question.

If he told Nicole that he would seek justice for her, Nicole would not believe him. What's worse, she
would suspect that he had an agenda.

Zayn didn't know why it was so difficult for him to show Nicole some concern.

"Parker and Tami had been lovers since childhood, and Tami was my nanny's daughter. She wanted to
enter the entertainment industry and asked me to help her. She had no professional background and
did not look outstanding, so she did not make much of a name for herself. Once, she came to me for
help and happened to hear something I said. She promised me that she wouldn't tell anyone, and I
believed her. But very soon, she went to Samuel."

Zayn did not answer Nicole's question. Instead, he talked about Tami.

This wasn't the first time Nicole had heard the name, and she was disgusted with the way she tried to
drive her and Samuel apart.

Tami seemed to have something to do with the secret that Samuel was hiding from her. Nicole thought
she might be able to get some information from Zayn.



"What did you say? Why did Tami go to Samuel?"

Zayn broke eye contact.

"I don't know. Maybe she wanted Samuel to help her get some jobs."

Nicole wouldn't buy that, of course.

"If you want to be my friend, you'd better tell me why. Because of this Tami, I almost divorced my
husband. She tried to seduce my husband but failed, and then she died. How did that happen? I think
you know everything."

Nicole looked at Zayn and said word by word.

Zayn felt stressed.

What Tami had overheard was the fact that Nicole was Zayn's younger sister. And this was what
Samuel had learned from Tami. But they had to keep Nicole in the dark.

He suddenly regretted having come to visit Nicole.

He'd thought that she was a delicate flower, but it turned out that she had thorns.

"If I tell you that I don't know, would you believe me?"

Zayn looked at Nicole and smiled awkwardly.

"Do I look like an idiot to you?"

Nicole crossed her arms over her chest and looked coldly at Zayn.

He coughed.



Zayn had been an actor for a long time, but this was the first time he'd been in a show that he didn't
know how to play.

"Shall we talk about the kidnapping?"

"Alright."

Nicole agreed without hesitation, which somewhat surprised Zayn.

"What's the matter?"

"Nothing."

Zayn hurriedly bowed his head to conceal his surprise and panic.

"This kidnapping was planned by Parker. Tami is dead. He blamed you for everything, so he had
someone kidnap you. He planned to starve you for a whole day before getting rid of you. This is what
I've found out."

Nicole started to put the pieces together.

Parker kidnapped her to avenge Tami, but Melissa took advantage of it.

However, how did Melissa know that she had been kidnapped by Parker?

Had Tami and Parker been communicating with each other?

Or had Tami been secretly following her all the time?

Thinking of this, Nicole couldn't help but frown.

It was really hard to guard against the enemies in the dark.



She didn't know what Melissa had gone through in prison, but it must be something terrible. Otherwise,
she would not have hated her so much.

Nicole was thinking fast.

Zayn didn't know if Nicole believed him. Her eyes were slightly narrowed and it was hard to tell her
emotions from her face.

"Nicole..."

"What's your role?"

"What?"

Zayn was dumbfounded by the question.

"I have nothing to do with any of this!"

"Then why did you want to sign a contract with me? Why are you being so nice to me? Why do you
come visit me? Don't tell me you fell in love with me at first sight. We haven't even met before."

Nicole's sharp gaze made Zayn somewhat nervous.

He found that Nicole looked exactly like his father at the moment.

Zayn shook his head and smiled bitterly, "I don't know how to explain."

He shouldn't have come.

If he had known that Nicole could still think so clearly after being injured, he wouldn't have barged in.

Nicole was in a trance for a moment.



She'd thought that Zayn would make up some lies, but Zayn said frankly that he couldn't explain. Nicole
found the whole thing more suspicious.

Nicole stared at Zayn as if she wanted to read his mind. Unfortunately, she didn't have the mind-

"Zayn, who are you? What do you want with me?"

"I can only tell you that I'm not your enemy."

After saying that, Zayn glanced at Nicole and stood up.

He took out a bank card from his pocket and put it on the table.

"I know you already have enough money. There isn't much money in here. I came in a hurry and didn't
have time to buy a gift. You can buy whatever you like."

"I don't need it!"

Nicole refused.

Zayn wasn't surprised by her reaction, but he felt terrible.

"Would you please accept it?"

"Why?"

Zayn didn't know how to answer that.

He sighed and took the bank card on the table.

"Have a good rest. I'll be out of here."



With that, he got up and left the ward.

The moment the ward door opened, Samuel came in from the outside. When he saw Zayn, a hint of
anger and warning flashed through Samuel's eyes.

Nicole saw Samuel's reaction.

Did Samuel know Zayn?

This discovery surprised Nicole.

She quietly looked down, her brain working fast.

How did Samuel know Zayn?

What was the secret he, Zayn, and Tami had been keeping from her?

When Samuel walked past Zayn, he said in a voice that only the two of them could hear, "I don't want
to see you anywhere near Nicole again."

"I'm just here to see how badly she's injured."

"It's my job to take care of my wife. It's none of your business."

With that, Samuel entered the room and slammed the door.

Zayn almost got hit in the nose and involuntarily took a step back.

Samuel must have done it on purpose!
