Chapter 1795: I Have a Family

“All right. Just leave those matters behind first. You should figure out who has done those things to you.
If you can’t find the rat around you, it will cause a bigger problem.”

Lucas’s words quickly brought back Michele to her senses.

She frowned and said in a low voice, “Only a few people are around me. Besides you and Edison, the
rest are my coworkers on the same team. Could the rat be one of my teammates?”

Michele didn’t want to suspect her teammates the most. After all, they were a team and had been
working together for several years, experiencing up and down, life and death. If the rat was one of
them, she would feel quite frustrated.

Lucas’s eyes darkened.

He thought about what he had found on Michele’s computer. The other party seemed to be quite
skillful. Besides, Lucas knew almost all the gifted computing talents. He filtered them carefully in his
mind, and his eyes darkened more.

“Remember I told you someone had done something to my gun when I was on the mission that day?
Besides you and me, only our teammates could enter my warehouse. Hence, the rat is probably from
our internal team.”

Upon hearing Lucas’s words, Michele looked completely annoyed.

She honestly didn’t want to suspect them, but Lucas had said so. She couldn't deceive herself any
longer.

She wouldn’t let go of the rat once she had found them out.

“I’ll check on them carefully,” she said.



“Ehn. You’d better be with Edison recently. I’m more rest assured if he is with you.”

Upon hearing his reminder, Michele asked, “I’m in such a situation now. Lucas, can’t you be with me
instead?”

“I have a family now. Besides, I’m looking for a suitable renal source for Yasmeen. I can’t let her live on
with a single kidney. It’s not fair for her.”

A trace of tenderness flashed through Lucas’s eyes.

Michele knew that she couldn’t keep Lucas staying. Although she was reluctant, she had to accept to
give up and bless after growing up.

“Lucas, I wish you and Yasmeen happy forever. You guys must be well, so I can believe there’s still true
love in this world.”

Tears welled up in Michele’s eyes.

Lucas poked her forehead and said with a smile, “What nonsense are you talking about? Isn’t there any
true love between your parents?”

“Their love is too suffering. Although my father treats my mother pretty well over the years, I know
there’s still a knot in my mother’s heart that she couldn’t overcome. The perfect love should be deep
love from both parties when they are still young. You and Yasmeen are like this, so your love must last
long, right?”

“Ehn. I’m sure it will.”

Lucas smiled and added, “You must be happy, too.”

“Okay.”



Michele had a sharp pang in her heart.

It wasn’t so easy for her to give up as she had imagined. The man who had accompanied her through
childhood to puberty would leave her life soon. They could hardly meet each other again in the future.
She felt as if her flesh were cut off from her bones. The pain made her suffocate. However, Michele still
forced a smile because she didn’t want to become his burden.

“I’m tired. Lucas, I want to take a nap.”

“Okay. Although I’m not in the military region anymore, you can contact me if you need any help in the
future,” said Lucas.

“Sure, I will.”

Michele hurriedly lowered her head, afraid that Lucas could see the tears in her eyes. She could hardly
hold them back.

Of course, Lucas could tell how upset Michele was.

However, sometimes he had to be determined to give up some connections.

If he hesitated, he would cause trouble for them both. Besides, he didn’t think he was Michele’s Mr.
Right.

Lucas turned around and walked out of the ward without looking back.

Gazing at his receding and determined figure, Michele bit her bottom lip and cried in silence. However,
she knew that she had no right to stop this man any longer.

Morty and his wife were not there when Lucas came out, but Edison was at the door. Evidently, he had
heard Lucas’s words just now.



Edison said in sadness, “Boss, you don’t have to do that. As long as you want to come back, you are
always welcomed.”

“But I don’t want to come back anymore.”

Lucas’s answer shocked Edison.

“Boss, didn’t you love the military region the most? Isn’t your dream and ambition are all in the
military?” Edison asked.

“A man’s dream and ambition will change along with the changes of the time and environment. Edison,
we’ve all grown up. Many people will depart at the intersections. I have my own path now, which has
nothing to do with the military. In the future, you can come to me during your holiday. Everything is on
me. Remember. We’re brothers for all our lives.”

His last words made Edison shed tears.

“Boss, I can’t get used to the days without you with me.”

“You will gradually. Time is the best and the most heartless thing. Please treat yourself and Michele
well. Although I always consider Michele my younger sister, I don’t want you to aggrieve yourself too
much. If Michele truly doesn’t have a crush on you after you pursue her, you should change your
target.”

Upon hearing Lucas’s reminder, Edison smiled bitterly.

“Boss, Yasmeen pursued you for so many years. Why didn’t you change your target? Or why didn’t you
ask Yasmeen to change her target?”

Lucas was rendered speechless.



It was true that everyone has their own persistence in love.

“All right. I wish you all the best then.”

“Thank you, Boss.”

After patting Edison on his shoulder, Lucas turned around and walked out of the hospital.

Edison looked at Michele in the ward, who had been crying miserably. Feeling sorry for her, he walked
in and pulled out the tissue on the table for her.

“Giving up might not be a bad thing. He doesn’t love you. It’s useless if you keep him staying forcibly,”
said Edison.

“I know.”

Michele’s voice was a bit hoarse.

After sobbing for a while, she looked at Edison carefully, making him a bit embarrassed.

“What’s wrong?” he asked.

“Lucas said you had a crush on me.”

Upon hearing it, Edison blushed.

“I...” he stammered.

“I’ll give you one chance, Edison. Think twice. I want to know an honest answer. Do you truly like me?”

“Yes, I do,” Edison answered without hesitation. Instantly, he felt pretty relaxed.



All through the years, he knew Michele liked Lucas, and Lucas didn’t like her. Hence, he had been
waiting around Michele.

Edison was a son from the Kidd family. He was handsome and talented. A lot of women were attracted
by him, but he only liked Michele.

Now, Michele gave him a chance. Edison believed he wouldn’t regret it even if she refused his
confession. At least, he wouldn’t feel sorry for himself.

Michele had never expected that Edison would answer so neatly and quickly. She was taken aback.
Her tearful eyes made her look quite pitiful. Edison looked at her, wishing he could hold her in his arms
and comfort her.
