Chapter 1623 You Are so Bold to Speak Anything

“I’m finally back!”

Laurence’s voice was quite hoarse, making Nicole feel bitter.

She could feel that Laurence had used a lot of strength. It seemed that he was emotionally unstable.
He hugged her tightly, trembling slightly. Nicole guessed that it might be because he was freaked out or
because of something else.

It was quite rare that Samuel didn’t get jealous this time. He didn’t separate Laurence and Nicole either.
Instead, he was standing next to them, whispering, “I’m so glad you are back.”

In the end, Laurence finally released Nicole.

He chuckled and said, “I used to think I might not be able to come back. I thought if I truly became a
monster who only knows to kill, what should I do if I hurt you? However, I completely lost control back

While Laurence spoke, his eyes were darkened.

Nicole recalled that Laurence’s change had something to do with Cara. However, right now, Cara was
missing. Nicole wondered how she should tell Laurence about her.

Laurence had experienced the life and death risks. Now he finally survived. If she mentioned Cara
again, probably she would stab another dagger into Laurence’s heart.

However, Laurence didn’t have such a worry as Nicole did. With a bitter smile, he continued, “I’ve never
expected it was Cara who set me up.”

Nicole was slightly startled, looking over at Samuel subconsciously.



Noticing her gaze, Samuel said, “Let bygones be bygones. I guess Cara probably had her difficulties.”

“Right. I want to know what her difficulties were. She used to love me so much and wait for me for such
a long time. How could she change just overnight? I remember very well -- she pushed the syringe on
me while weeping. I could still recall her struggle, reluctance, and hesitation. However, I don’t
understand why she had to do that. If she wanted me to die, I wouldn’t turn her down. However, she
must give me a reason.”

Laurence smiled bitterly again.

Nicole also wanted to know the reason. She wondered what on earth could let Cara set up her beloved
man.

Right then, Nicole suddenly didn’t know what to speak.

She didn’t know how to comfort Lauren, and nor did she know what to remark.

Laurence broke the silence.

“I heard Cara jumped into the sea and now she’s missing, right?”

“Yes. We searched for her for a long time but failed to find her. However, for your health condition...”

“I see. I don’t mean to complain. I just feel she’s still alive.”

Laurence had such an intuition.

Nicole didn’t dare to echo him.

It was the sea. Even an experienced sailor might not be able to survive on the sea. Cara was just a
weak girl. Could she make it?



Nicole didn’t know.

If Cara were still alive, there should be some news about her. However, it had been more than half a
year.

Samuel said in a low voice, “If she was still alive, she would come to you, Laurence. Now you haven’t
completely recovered yet. You’d better take care of yourself. By the way, you should know the
relationship between your parents and the Don family. Olivia Kent and Booth Kent are your cousins. If
you have time, you should meet them. They both are here.”

Upon hearing it, Laurence paused a bit and nodded in agreement.

Nicole could feel that even Laurence had become rational because he had a heavy blow by Cara’s
matter, he still couldn’t adjust his mood back.

Laurence was a pitiful man.

Since he was still a fetus in his mother’s belly, he had become a research target and was injected with
a lot of medicines. As soon as he was born, he lost his parents. The only person who treated her well,
Adela, died because of him. Since then, he had learned to keep a distance from people. Later, he
finally accepted Cara and fell in love with him. He had thought that they could be together, but Cara
changed.

Nicole didn’t know what kind of tone and words she could use to comfort Laurence. She just hoped that
the care and warmth from his family could light up the ray of hope at the bottom of Laurence’s heart.

Seeing that Laurence was a bit exhausted, Samuel took Nicole away from the room.

When they left the room, Nicole’s eyes became tearful. Griping Samuel’s hand, she said, “God treats
Laurence so unfairly.”



“Some of us will suffer and then become happy, but some of us would be the other way round. God
won’t mistreat a good man. After Laurence has experienced so many things, probably only happiness
is waiting for him ahead.”

Samuel’s words made Nicole feel better.

“I hope so. Last time, when Olivia came here, she didn’t meet Booth. Will Booth come here this time?”

Samuel nodded and said, “Of course. Booth will come here with Karina York.”

“What? So he just raises himself a future wife, right? Booth is awesome!”

Nicole’s words amused Samuel, who laughed out.

“You are so bold to speak anything!”

“Can’t you tell how much Booth loves Karina York?”

Upon hearing her words, Samuel directly said, “Karina York is just a little girl.”

“She’s fourteen already, not a child anymore. She should understand what kind of feeling she has for
Booth.”

“It’s a matter between Booth and Karina York. You’d better not worry about them. If you are so idle, why
don’t you care more about me?”

“What’s the matter with you?”

“You’ve ignored me for almost twenty days. My little brother misses you so much.”

Nicole instantly blushes.



“Samuel, you old rascal!”

“What? Old? Nicole, now you disliked me, don’t you? Which young man do you have a crush on the
outside? Who is he? Tell me!”

Nicole’s mouth corners twitched because of Samuel’s words.

She wondered if he was still in the right state of his mind.

They teased each other while going to find Olivia. Then they told her that Boot and Karina would come
here soon, and Laurence was also here, asking her if she wanted to meet him.

Suddenly knowing that she still had a cousin, Olivia was quite excited. In the past decades, the Kent
family had limited family members. How could she not be willing to meet Laurence?

Hence, Nicole took Olivia to meet Laurence.

Nicole didn’t know what they talked about in the room. Booth and Karina also came over quickly and
entered the room.

In the beginning, Nicole heard the sobs from the room. She guessed that they must have shed tears in
joy because of the reunion.

She walked farther from the room, leaving them a completely private space to get along.

A maid passed Nicole, and Nicole didn’t feel weird. However, when the maid kept walking towards
Laurence’s room, Nicole slightly frowned.

“Wait a minute!” she stopped the maid in front of her.

The maid slightly paused, standing there while lowering her head. Nicole couldn’t see the emotion in
her eyes.



She felt weird and asked, “What are you doing heading over there?”

“I’m sending some fruits to the side hall.”

The maid’s voice sounded so weird as if her vocal cords were damaged.

Nicole became alert immediately.

Seldom people knew that Laurence was here. She wondered why this maid came to deliver the fruits.
