Chapter 1655 I’m Waiting for You

What was that?

Did he admit it?

Morty frowned.

He was sick and tired of talking with people like Mr. Hill and Chad. They pretended to be mysterious
and wanted him to guess.

He was thinking the same as Xander. No one was faster than Xander but Xander couldn’t catch him,
which meant that this person was in the yard. And he wasn’t the only one who lived in the yard.

That was why Morty thought of Mr. Morty.

When he knocked on the door, Mr. Hill closed his eyes and said, “Ask what you wanna know. I’m tired.”

“I haven’t asked yet.”

“I don’t wanna listen and I won’t talk to you. If you wanna do something, just do it. You’re young and
should have the courage.”

Morty knew he meant something else.

“Even if I turn the Capital City upside down?”

“You’re an adult. You can take responsibility for your behaviors now.”

Mr. Hill was still talking like that, which was pretty awful for Morty.

“Fine, you’re old then take a good rest. Don’t meddle in things you shouldn’t meddle in. As for Chad,
tell him I have to do what I have to do.”



“He’s been a soldier for life. He knows better than you. Go away. Don’t bother me.”

Mr. Hill started to push him away.

Morty was kind of upset and went out. Then he found that Michele was standing there, waiting for him.

“Michele? Why are you here?”

“Lucas said you are here.”

Michele really liked this new dad.

He would buy anything she wanted. Even if she didn’t say anything and just took a look at that stuff,
she would find it in her bedroom the next day. And he would play with her. No matter how busy and
tired he was, he would spare some time to be with her and her mom.

This was beyond her imagination.

She went toward him right away.

“Daddy, mommy asks if you will go home and have dinner.”

“I am busy right now and can’t go home for now. Don’t wait for me. But I’ll be home as soon as
possible.”

Morty held Michele up.

She put on some weight and looked much better.

Michele held her arms around his neck and bit her lips, “Can I ask Lucas to join us for dinner?”

“I’m afraid not. He’s got something to do.”



Morty knew that Lucas would tell Nicole right away since Eaton was finally found. Nicole would
probably come back by helicopter.

She would definitely arrive before midnight. At that time, no one could take Lucas away from Eaton.

Michele was a little disappointed.

Morty felt terrible and said hastily, “Well, you can invite Lucas to our house next weekend, okay?”

“Great!”

Michele was delighted.

Morty held her in his arms and sent her home. Then he said something to Molly secretly.

Seeing her parents so close, Michele was quite happy.

This was a family.

However, Lucas was feeling frustrated.

Eaton hadn’t woken up. He put his fingers under Eaton’s nose and was finally relieved when he felt his
breath.

He was terrified. Lucas pulled out his phone and told Nicole about the good news that Eaton was finally
found. He also told her the process and Cara’s identity.

Nicole was shocked after hearing the news.

Cara's identity astonished her and Xander’s identity made her wanna cry.



They were Xander’s closest family and he still hid this from them, from which they would tell how much
pressure he was under.

“I’ll be back as soon as possible. Lucas, please watch over your brother. Wait for me.”

“Okay, mommy. Don’t worry, we’ve got uncle Morty here. We’ll be fine.”

But Nicole couldn’t calm down.

How could it be fine?

If it was really fine, Eaton wouldn’t be kidnapped in the first place.

But she didn’t want his son to worry. She just said yes and then hung up the phone.

Lucas was still uncertain when he hung up. He called Joseph this time.

Ever since Lucas arrived at the base, he called less often because of the secrecy of the base and the
full schedule of him and Joseph. When Joseph had time, Lucas didn’t. When Lucas was on a vacation,
Joseph was busy studying. Joseph was stunned when he got a call from Lucas all of a sudden.

“Lucas?”

“Joseph, what are you doing?”

Hearing Joseph’s voice, Lucas started to smile.

Joseph said, “Just finished school. I was gonna assort today’s notes. Miss me?”

“Yeah!” Lucas didn’t play coy and asked hurriedly, “Do you know that Eaton was kidnapped?”

“What?”



Because Joseph had a gift for medicine, he was introduced to a medicine master by Morgan. He lived
in the master’s home after school and only came back once a week. So, he didn’t know anything about
what happened to Eaton.

“What happened? Who kidnapped Eaton? Do mommy and daddy know? I’ll book a ticket to Capital
City right now!”

Just before Joseph hung up, Lucas said hastily, “Don’t be so hurried! He’s back and he is right next to
me. I told mommy but she is in Country F right now. It will take some time for her to be here. I’m a little
insecure looking after him by myself. Can you come and be with us? And don’t tell Zoe.”

Zoe was fond of the piano so Nicole sent her to boarding school to help her be more independent. She
only came back every Sunday, which was pretty close to Joseph’s Day off.

Joseph knew what he meant.

“I know. I’ll tell her I’m gonna come to the Capital City for a seminar. She wouldn’t be suspicious.”

“Okay. I’ll wait for you.”

“Fine.”

Joseph hung up and saw Zoe walking towards him.

“Joseph, you came back earlier than me today.”

Zoe grew fast in these two years. She grew pretty tall and beautiful, looking like a princess.

Joseph laughed, “Yeah, but I need to leave in a few minutes.”

“Why? I was thinking that we could play for a while.”



Zoe was upset.

Her older brother was always in the base. Now he was finally here and he still wanted to go out?

Joseph comforted her, “There’s a seminar that I wanna go to. You know, I’m interested in this kind of
stuff.”

“Okay then.”

Zoe nodded. Joseph patted her shoulder. Just as he was about to walk out of the room, the phone
rang.
